Steve Toussaint is an English actor who was born on the 22nd of March, 1965 in the United Kingdom. He is best known for his roles in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), Judge Dredd (1995), and Shooting Dogs (2005). He recently joined the cast as Lord Corlys Velaryon in the highly-anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series, HBO’s House of the Dragon. Toussaint, who is of Barbadian descent, had his last name legally changed to "Toussaint" because his unconfirmed birth name conflicted with a pre-existing member of his actors' union. He chose the name from Toussaint Louverture, the Haitain revolutionary leader.

In 1994, Toussaint made his professional debut as Steve Dixie on ITV’s mystery drama miniseries The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. The same year, he was cast as Barry Christie in ITV’s crime drama The Knock, where he portrayed the role through to the end of the series in 2000. Toussaint then appeared in the 1995 dystopian sci-fi thriller Judge Dredd, starring Sylvester Stallone, and later went on to portray the character of Joe in BBC’s crime drama Jack of Hearts (1999). In 2005, he starred in the acclaimed drama film Shooting Dogs, directed by Michael Caton-Jones and starring John Hurt, Hugh Dancy and Clare-Hope Ashitey. It is based on the experiences of BBC news producer David Belton, who worked in Rwanda during the Rwandan genocide. In 2010, Toussaint then portrayed Seso in the action fantasy film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan. The film was an adaptation of the video game of the same name developed and published by Ubisoft. More recent television credits include the BBC’s forensics crime drama Silent Witness (2014), BBC Two’s police procedural Line of Duty (2014), Spike TV’s Tut (2015), which was a three-part miniseries is based on the life of Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun, BBC’s British-French crime drama Death in Paradise (2018), and a 2020 episode of the popular British scifi series Doctor Who. In 2021, Toussaint then portrayed Alan Baxter in Channel 4’s LGBT drama miniseries It's a Sin.

Also in 2021, it was announced that Toussaint will star in the Game of Thrones prequel fantasy series for HBO, House of the Dragon. He will portray Lord Corlys Velaryon, also known as the ‘Sea Snake,’ the lord of House Velaryon and the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros. The series is set to premiere in August of 2022, consisting of ten episodes. Toussaint recently confirmed that he previously auditioned for several roles during the eight year run of Game of Thrones, including the bodyguard to Prince Doran Martell, Areo Hotah.
