“the show has been such an education for me in everything. it’s taught me so much about life more than anything else. having to be around adults from the age of ten and work on a professional set… it also taught me a lot about myself.”

Isaac Hempstead Wright is an English actor who was born on 9 April 1999 in Surrey, England. He does not come from a performance background: his mother and father are both teachers, and his step-father runs a printing company. Wright studied at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Faversham, Kent. He had no interest in acting until he joined a drama club to avoid playing football on Saturday mornings during the cold months of the year; he later studied acting at the Kent Youth Theatre in Canterbury.

Beginning his professional acting career at the age of eleven with his big screen debut in the horror film, The Awakening (2011), Wright’s big break came when he was cast as Bran Stark on Game of Thrones (2011), which earned him two Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations as Oustanding Performance by an Ensemble in Drama Series at the 18th and 20th Screen Actors Guild Awards. He also earned a Young Artist Award nomination as Best Young Supporting Actor in a TV Series. He did not appear in season five, but returned as part of the main cast in the sixth series. The eighth and final season of the show premiered in April 2019 with Wright in a starring role, making him one of a handful of Thrones actors who have remained on the show over its nine years of production.

Wright also had a supporting role in the 2013 crime thriller Closed Circuit and voice acted in the 2014 animated fantasy-comedy film, The Boxtrolls, a 2014 episode of the American show Family Guy and the 2016 TV special Revolting Rhymes. Wright then appeared in the Foals song "Exits" music video, which was directed by Albert Moya. It also features French actress Christa Théret as students at a clandestine fencing academy in a random series of interconnected vignettes of a surrealist nature. The video was filmed in Budapest. Sometime in 2018, Wright was cast in the feature film The Blue Mauritius (2020). The heist movie was expected to begin filming in Cape Town, South Africa in mid-2018 but has remained in pre-production. As of 2021, he is still attached to the project. In April 2019, it was announced that Wright was attached to the upcoming sci-fi film Voyagers (2020) as part of an ensemble cast which includes Colin Farrell and Tye Sheridan. The film was released in April 2021.
