“Arya's feisty, a bit of a rebel, a tomboy. she is also quite brave and quick thinking, she wants to be listened to but sees everything very black and white... bit like me really! She’s a real person, and sometimes you’re going to disagree with what she does. That’s what I love about the show.”

In 2011, aged fourteen and following her second acting audition, Williams debuted in her first professional acting role as Arya Stark, a character in the main cast of the HBO medieval fantasy epic television drama Game of Thrones (2011–2019), a portrayal that quickly brought the new actress global attention. Williams received critical praise and acting accolades for her work on the show, including two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
In 2014 Williams starred in her first feature film, the melodramatic coming of age mystery drama The Falling, for which she also received critical approval and award recognition. In 2018, she made her stage debut in Lauren Gunderson's I and You at the Hampstead Theatre, London, to positive reviews. Williams' other television appearances include guest starring in 2015 in four episodes of the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who, the 2015 British television film docudrama Cyberbully and the 2017 British science-fiction teen thriller iBoy.
