Vladimír 'Furdo' Furdík is a Slovakian stuntman, stunt supervisor, actor, sword master and fight choregrapher, born on the 1st of July 1970, in Bratislava, Slovakia. He was a member of Tostabur Espadrones, a group which practiced, performed and celebrated traditional fighting skills and weaponry in Bratislava and throughout Czechoslovakia. Furdik was also involved with the Borseus group, which was led by the influential Slovakian stunt performer Gustáv Kyselica. Since 1990, Furdík has worked in Hollywood as an actor and stuntman, appearing in films such as Tristan and Isolde, Eragon, War Horse, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Skyfall as a stuntman. He also appeared in the role of Andrzej in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and as one of the four ship guardians in Prometheus.
Furdik is most well known for portraying the Night King in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones. Between 2015 and 2019, he acted as a leading stunt performer in sixteen episodes of Thrones, and as a stunt safety technician in the eight season episode "Winterfell". Furdik also portrayed a pivotal role as the Night King in the sixth season episode "The Door", the seventh season episodes "Dragonstone", "Eastwatch", "Beyond the Wall", and "The Dragon and the Wolf", and the eighth season’s battle-heavy "The Long Night". He took over the role from Richard Brake for undisclosed reasons.
The actor began his career in the showbiz industry as a stuntman, first working on the low-budget film Tremors (1990), an American western-themed monster comedy, which has gained a large cult following over the years. Then, after four years, Furdik also got his first acting role in the Italian fairy tale film The Dragon Ring (1994). Likewise, he has stunt performed in many hit films and TV series, such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), War and Peace (2007), Eragon (2006), The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Noah (2014), Prometheus (2012), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), Season of the Witch (2011), Spartacus (2013), Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014), Robin Hood (2010), and the James Bond franchise film Skyfall (2012). At present, Furdik is working as a fight choreographer and trainer in the Netflix fantasy series, The Witcher (2019). He most recently worked on the Ridley Scott historical action drama film The Last Duel (2021), starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer.
