Jefferson Hall is an English actor who was born on the 6th of December, 1977 in Coventry, West Midlands, England. He was trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. Hall is best known for television roles such as Ser Hugh of the Vale in HBO’s hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, as Varg in CBBC’s sci-fi series Wizards vs Aliens and as Torstein in the History Channel’s historical drama series Vikings. He is also known for the role of Aaron Korey in Blumhouse Productions’ 2018 installment of the Halloween horror film franchise.
Credited as Robert Hall in his earlier roles, Jefferson has had a varied TV and film career. His first role came as a football extra in Green Street Hooligans, a 2005 crime drama film starring Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam. Between 2007 and 2008, Hall appeared in single episodes of several popular British programs such as Casualty, The Afternoon Play, Doctors, Clapham Junction, The Bill, Coming Up and Clone. He then joined BBC One’s 2009 adaptation miniseries Emma, based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel of the same name, which co-starred Romola Garai, Jonny Lee Miller and Michael Gambon. The same year, Jefferson also appeared in the 2009 period action film Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. in the title role based on the character of the same name created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In 2011, after appearing in two episodes of HBO’s fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, he then starred in CBBC’s 2012 science-fiction fantasy series Wizards vs Aliens for it’s two season run, which co-starred Game of Thrones alum Gwendoline Christie. Once the series ended in 2013, Hall then joined the cast of the History Channel’s popular historical drama series Vikings for three series as the character of Torstein. After briefly appearing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), he then co-starred alongside Tom Hardy and Jessie Buckley in BBC One’s drama series Taboo in 2017, and the following year in BBC One’s long-running crime drama Silent Witness. Also in 2018, Jefferson portrayed Aaron Korey in the eleventh installment and reboot of the Jamie Lee Curtis slasher franchise Halloween. After starring in the Christian Neuman’s 2019 horror film Skin Walker, he appeared in several episodes of the FX on Hulu techno-thriller series Devs (2020), created by Alex Garland and starring Hall’s future House of the Dragon co-star Sonoya Mizuno. It was later announced in 2021, that Hall had joined the cast of HBO’s highly-anticipated Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, where he will be portraying Ser Tyland Lannister, the Master of Ships to King Viserys, as well as portraying the character’s twin brother Jason Lannister, the Lord of Casterly Rock.
