It’s definitely one of the darker roles I’ve played. aegon targaryen is a very, very complex character. One minute we love him, then the next we hate him, but I’m really enjoying that sort of back and forth aspect of the role. It’s a tricky thing to play, but it’s rewarding in so many ways.

Tom Glynn-Carney is an English actor and singer who was born on the 7th of February, 1995 in Salford, Manchester, England. He is best known for his supporting role as Peter in Christopher Nolan's acclaimed war film Dunkirk (2017), which went on to receive eight nominations at the 90th Academy Awards, including a nomination for Best Picture. He is also known for his indie folk band Sleep Walking Animals, in which he is the lead singer. Glynn-Carney studied at Canon Slade School in Bolton, and went on to study musical theatre in Pendleton College of Performing Arts. He then attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied acting, while also participating in professional stage adaptations of Peter Pan and Macbeth.

Glynn-Carney’s first experience on television was in 2013 when he had a role in two episodes of BBC One’s long-running medical drama Casualty. Following this, his first film was the Oscar-nominated war film Dunkirk, which was directed by Christopher Nolan and released in July 2017. He plays Peter, the son of the captain of a small boat that sailed to rescue British soldiers from the surrounded city of Dunkirk, France. Tom then secured a lead role in the BBC military drama series The Last Post, which launched as part of the new season Autumn 2017 content on BBC One. He played Lance Corporal Tony Armstrong opposite actors Jessie Buckley and Jeremy Neumark Jones. Meanwhile, in 2017, Tom also starred as Shane Corcoran in the Jez Butterworth play The Ferryman, which opened at the Royal Court Theatre in London, England. He later transferred with the production to the West End at the Gielgud Theatre, leaving the production in October 2017. Glynn-Carney won the Emerging Talent Award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his performance. In 2019, he then co-starred opposite Nicholas Hoult in the biographical drama film Tolkien, based on the early life of English professor J. R. R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The same year, Tom also portrayed Sir Henry "Hotspur" Percy in Netflix’s war film The King, starring Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson. The 2019 film was directed by David Michôd and based on several plays from William Shakespeare's Henriad. In March of 2022, it was announced that Glynn-Carney had joined the cast of the Game of Thrones prequel spinoff, House of the Dragon. In the fantasy series, he will be playing Prince Aegon Targaryen, the son of King Viserys and Queen Alicent, played by Paddy Considine and Olivia Cooke.
